One of the mysteries of human nature is how the brain evolved. Human brain is an expensive tool which demands about 20% of the total energy consumption of a human body. And hoo-ha! now we have a similar artefact evolving under our very noses: data centers!
Data Centers could suck up up 10% of Northwestern power by 2030: The growing data center clusters in Oregon and Washington could suck up 10 percent of the regions power by 2030, if the facilities and infrastructure don’t become more efficient, according to a report (via Gigaom)
Data Centers are becoming more and more energy demanding, and one might argue that they serve a function similar to brains: information crunching. So maybe we’re onto something here!
